It's that time of year again.

The long-awaited, nail-biting third season of Lost is finally on air!

Unfortunately, I hear only six episodes will be televised during the initial run. The second batch of the remaining episodes will run next year in February. My first reaction to this odd strategy was total puzzlement: why would the station want to leave its viewers on tenterhooks for several months, at risk of losing their interest and having to 're-hype' the telecast all over again?

An equally addicted Lost junkie postulates that they just couldn't write the script fast enough and didn't want to compromise on the quality of writing for the sake of airing episodes quickly. On the other hand, they obviously reckoned it would be worse to keep viewers waiting till they get their act together, so why not screen a few episodes to satisfy the crowd for the time being? After all, it has been ages since we saw Michael and his kid get on the boat and sail away from the island while the others (not 'The Others', but 'the rest of the survivors') remain on the island to ponder their fate...

Today I will watch Season 3 Episode 1...
